Organizations

The Pleiades Foundation seeks out organizations that promote sustainable ranching and farming, educate citizens on the value of responsible stewardship, and strengthen rural communities and small cities in the American West.

Since our inception we have funded a handful of non-profit organizations. Some of the organizations we currently fund or have funded in the past include:

 

 

 

 

 

 

The American Farmland Trust helps farmers and ranchers protect their land, produce a healthier environment and build successful communities.

Yellowstone Forever works in cooperation with the National Park Service to fund projects and programs that protect, preserve, and enhance the natural and cultural resources of Yellowstone National Park.

The Clark Fork Coalition is dedicated to protecting and restoring the Clark Fork River basin, a 22,000-square-mile area draining western Montana and northern Idaho.

Five Valleys Land Trust is a community-supported conservation organization with a mission to preserve and protect western Montana’s natural legacy - its river corridors, wildlife habitat, agricultural lands, and scenic open spaces.

The Missoula Food Bank & Community Center responds to the emergency food needs of Missoula area residents and distributes more than 250 tons of food each year to reduce the incidence of hunger and its effects on individuals, families and the larger community.

The Ranchers Stewardship Alliance promotes the ecological, social and economic conditions that will sustain the biodiversity and integrity of America’s northern mixed-grass prairie for present and future generations.

The Glacier National Park Conservancy fosters public awareness and encourages private philanthropy to preserve the outstanding natural beauty and cultural heritage of Glacier National Park for the use and enjoyment of present and future generations.

Seed Savers Exchange saves and shares the rare heirloom seeds of our garden heritage, forming a living legacy that can be passed down through generations to compose an irreplaceable genetic resource that may well guarantee the security of our future food supply.

The Missoula Art Museum strives to engage artists and audience in the creative exploration of contemporary art relevant to its community, state and region.

The International Wildlife Media Center & Film Festival works to promote awareness, knowledge and understanding of wildlife, habitat, people and nature through excellence in film, television, and other media.

The Methow Conservancy is dedicated to inspiring people to care for and conserve the land, water and air of Washington’s Methow Valley. They work to connect people to the land, support local agriculture and serve as a role model for the rural mountain West.

The Clearwater Resource Council works to facilitate efforts that will enhance, conserve, sustain, and protect the natural resources and rural lifestyle of the Clearwater Watershed for present and future generations.

High Country News is the nation's leading source of news on the West. The site covers the most-pressing social, political and ecological issues in 12 Western states and hundreds of Indigenous communities.

The Land Institute co-leads the global movement for perennial, diverse, truly regenerative agriculture at a scale. The non-profit research organization is focused on creating an agriculture system that mimics natural systems to produce ample food and reduce or eliminate the negative impacts of agriculture.

The Missoula Writing Collaborative teaches literary competence, critical thinking, cultural awareness, and artistic joy through creative writing. Writers are placed in rural, tribal and town schools throughout western Montana to show young people the power of words and help them find their voices as writers.
